BuildInFlexergy – ASR Smart Charging Workshop
4 February 2026, Utrecht

On 4 February 2026, a workshop and demonstration session was organised at the a.s.r. head office in Utrecht, focusing on smart charging solutions and building energy flexibility.

The main objective of the session was to demonstrate how advanced control strategies, including model predictive control (MPC) and machine learning, can be applied in practice to manage energy use and reduce peak loads in buildings. The session was organised in collaboration with OpenToControl and Kropman and brought together PhD candidates, researchers, and industry partners.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to the smart charging environment at a.s.r., including the integration of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure with building energy systems. The programme included presentations on the development of the a.s.r. building, smart EV control strategies, and the software solutions supporting these applications. A guided tour of the a.s.r. building provided participants with direct insight into the practical implementation of these technologies.
